Therefore “dynamic sitting” is what is needed! This means changing the sitting position many times, as far as possible, – between the rear, middle and front sitting positions.
Additionally, a standing position should be taken from time to time, because each of these changes in position activates different muscle groups and therefore relaxes other muscles. This so-called “dynamic sitting” is considered to be ideal from a medical, orthopaedic and anatomic point of view!
First of all it is important to become aware of how to sit. If you do not know that you are not sitting properly, you will have no reason to change that. Many orthopaedists call for an upright sitting position, so that the spine keeps its natural form, because there is less pressure on the intervertebral discs sitting upright than when sitting in a crouched position. Although the back muscles are less stressed in a slightly forward sitting position and therefore the whole posture becomes more comfortable, it doesn't necessarily mean that the more comfortable posture is also the better one. It is better for the spine to sit upright, but due to the reduced muscle work of the back – while sitting slightly forward – you get the impression that you are sitting more
